We'll Teach You the Basics of Accounting So You Can Master Your Profits

Understanding your books and learning to work them is the gateway drug to financial success. This course, taught by a Harvard Business School Online graduate with 13 years of experience running the accounting for multiple businesses, is meant to give you only what you need to run your business effectively and increase your profitability.

No advanced techniques or ultra-specific concepts you'll never use. Only the stuff that gets used in the Real World.

Meet the Teacher

My name is Edwin Gaitan

But you can call me Eddy Gatez. I've been an entrepreneur since I was 19 years old. I'm a college dropout, but I did attend the University of Miami for Accounting and I did complete a specialization in Finances and Accounting at Harvard Business School Online in my late 20's. More importantly, I have 13 years of real world experience running the accounting for multiple businesses in multiple industries. I'd say I've learned a thing or two.

I developed this course because I saw firsthand how simply learning proper accounting transformed my businesses, and I want to pass that feeling to you. Remember, What Gets Measured, Gets Managed. Master Accounting, Master your Finances.

Who is this Course for?

Accounting in the Real World (ARW 101) is a course engineered specifically to streamline the basics of small business financial management into 10 weeks. It was created with three types of people in mind:

Executives & Founders

If you're a business owner, this information is absolutely essential. Leaving all the accounting work to your bookkeeper and/or CPA will leave you blind to looming issues and incapable of making informed decisions.

Managers & Leaders

Team leaders and Department Heads should understand their own budgets and how they impact things like the overall Balance Sheet or P&L. Providing this type of training to management allows everyone to be on the same page.

Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Considering opening a business? Make sure you know how to speak the "language of business" (Accounting) so you can stay in control of your money and understand what levers to pull to make it grow, or keep it from shrinking.

Who this course isn't for: If you already have a background in Accrual-Based Accounting or have already taken courses that explain the basics of Accounting, this course will probably not be suitable for your skill and knowledge level.

What Will You Learn?

This course is broken down into 9 Chapters and one Final Exam at the end of the course which will earn you your ARW Certificate from Vibbix. Here's a simple breakdown of what each Chapter teaches and what outcomes you can expect:

Chapter Title

  • Speak accountant’s language

Chapter 3 – Adjusting Transactions (Accrual Accounting)

See how timing affects revenue and expenses, and why cash-based views alone can mislead you.

  • Improve decision-making

Chapter 6 – The Statement of Cash Flows

Discover where your money really goes, and why profit doesn’t always equal cash in the bank.

  • Trace money movement

  • Manage operating cash

  • Plan for investments

  • Avoid liquidity crunches

Chapter 7 – Understanding Profits

  • Build simple forecasts

  • Set realistic goals

  • Anticipate cash needs

  • Support business planning

If you don't understand your Balance Sheet, you don't understand your business.

Most entrepreneurs go broke because they don't understand cash flow. Don't be one of them.

Go from clueless with numbers to a confident decision maker who knows exactly what's going on financially.

Live Learning

Lectures are given once each week for two hours at a time over Google Meet. This allows you to ask questions naturally as they come up during class, network with other like minded business leaders, and even schedule time to meet one-on-one with the teacher for particularly tough concepts. We believe Live Learning will help you internalize the topics and actually remember them later so you can apply them for years to come.
